Foodstuffs Section
We aim to develop new businesses centered on Kyushu, focusing on "export of Japanese foods" in the Food sector, and "development of value-added products" in the Feed and Fertilizer sector.
Making the most of Kyushu's geographical advantage as a gateway from/to Asia, we import food materials, processed foods, fishery products, coarse feed, livestock feed materials, fertilizers, etc. from countries all over the world such as China, ASEAN countries, the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, South America, and sell them mainly to local companies in Kyushu. At the same time, we also export Kyushu products to the world such as processed agricultural products, processed fishery products, processed livestock products, various other foods, beverages, and Japanese sake produced by local companies in Kyushu.
We will continue to contribute to the development of the food, livestock/dairy, fishery and agriculture industries in Kyushu through our community-based business. As a part of this, we are determined to actively invest in promising business projects in order to foster local industries and secure resources.
Japanese food exports
We export marine products (yellowtail, sea bream, tuna), livestock products (Wagyu beef, chicken) as well as products from local food manufacturers in Kyushu to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, and other countries throughout the world. In particular, for marine product, we export “bluefin tuna,” farmed by the Sojitz Group in Takashima Island, Nagasaki. We actively promote the export of high-quality tuna, yellowtail, sea bream, and striped jack mackerel from Kyushu.
We do not export Japanese products as they are, but try to improve products to meet local needs and participate in local exhibitions for promotion. We have been entrusted with many export promotion projects from local governments in Kyushu region since 2017 and have built up a track record of success.

Food imports from around the world

We procure wheat gluten from Australia and sugar preparations from Korea, and raw materials for marine delicacy from Vietnam and other products through the Sojitz Group’s worldwide network.
The Sojitz Group works as one not only in the stable import of high-quality foodstuffs, but also to select reliable overseas food factories, audit production factories, check traceability and pesticide residues, and attend production to control and confirm every detail.
Marine and livestock feed imports
We import fishmeal and other marine feeds not only from major countries such as Chili, Peru, and Southeast Asia, but also from islands rich in marine resources through our own network. As marine aquaculture becoming popular throughout the world, procuring fishmeal has become more important.
In the livestock division, we contribute to the local livestock industry by importing fine-quality grass from Europe (Spain) and the US, and supplying it to regional dairy and livestock farmers via major feed wholesalers.
