Sojitz Kyushu Corporation (the "Company" ) has entered into a comprehensive collaboration agreement (Framework Agreement) with WindTAK Sp. z o.o. (Headquarters: Lodz, Poland; "WindTAK") with the aim of introducing and commercializing a DX-based solution in the field of wind turbine blade operation and maintenance (O&M) in Japan.
Damage to wind turbine blades not only leads to a decline in power generation efficiency but also raises concerns about potential public safety risks. As a result, the importance of continuous monitoring and preventive maintenance is increasing. WindTAK's condition monitoring system is a solution designed to enable early detection of damage caused by aging or lightning strikes, thereby reducing the risk of operational downtime.
As discussions regarding a demonstration project toward technology introduction in Japan have recently become more concrete, the Company has concluded this Framework Agreement with WindTAK in order to smoothly promote the demonstration and to establish a foundation for further collaboration.
Through this demonstration, the Company will verify the practicality of blade condition monitoring as well as the effectiveness of predictive maintenance utilizing digital twin technology, and will evaluate the feasibility of applying the solution to wind power facilities in Japan.
Based on the results of this demonstration, the Company aims to expand the solution horizontally to other domestic wind power operators in the future, thereby contributing to improved availability of wind power facilities and the stable supply of renewable energy.
